This guide is for a user setting up their Elive hosted Email on Mozilla thunderbird.

1. If this is the first time you've opened Thunderbird, the Mail Account Setup window will appear automatically,Otherwise, go to File on the top bar and select Existing Mail Account.

2. Fill out the relevant fields

  • Your Name -  This is the name people will see when they receive a mail from you.
  • Email Address - This is the Email address you are setting up.
  • Password - This is your Email password.

3. Thunderbird wil automatically try detect your email settings but will fail. you now need to enter your servers setting manually

  • Incoming - This is your incoming mail server type. Your Elive hosted mail supports both POP3 and IMAP.
  • Server Hostname - This is your incoming mail server supplied by Elive Support. (MXIN.YOURDOMAIN.IE or COM, NET.etc...)
  • Outgoing Server Hostname -  In most cases this will be SMTP.YOURDOMAIN.IE or COM, NET etc.
  • Username - This is your Email address.

4. Thunderbird will take a minute to check the settings you've entered.

5. if you receive a warning screen advising of encryption tick the "I understand the risk" checkbox and click create account.
